The Change Made Me 

Next week, I' ll set off on a trip to the mountains with my friends. I' ve made some  rules by myself. Here I'd like to share them with you.

●Wear proper clothes, strong shoes and thick  .

●Do not walk too close to the edge of the hill path.

●Do not go off on your own. Keep together.

●Do not drink all your water at the very beginning.

●Always take care when walking on the path.

●Choose  ways instead of curly ones.

●Help each other to put up tents.

●If I'm lost, just stand where I am and shout for help.

●Keep calm when any sudden danger  .

I'm so excited about the coming trip that it's difficult for me to  these days, especially when I think of the exciting rock, fresh air and soft grass.

①It can be really embarrassing if someone sees you talking to yourself. But don't feel bad about it! Talking to yourself actually has a lot of advantages.

②You probably know that thinking is good for the brain. It helps us do things like making plans and managing our feelings. Talking to yourself loud is like showing this quiet inner(内在的) speech. It can help us do better in different areas like studies, sports and work.

③Talking to yourself, especially in the third person, can help us manage bad feelings. "Talking to yourself in the third person is like giving yourself advice." said Jason Moser, a professor(教授) from Michigan State University in the US. Jason uses himself as an example. He does not like flying, but he often has to fly for his work. So when he is feeling nervous or afraid during a flight, he talks to himself-only silently. Well, you know, Jason knows air travel is very safe. And Jason has been on thousands of flights. This can help us to see things from a different aspect(角度), especially when we' re feeling sad or angry.

④When encouragement comes from oneself, it adds to self-confidence. A study invited 72 tennis players to take part in some matches. Researchers divided the players into two groups: one group that said nothing while playing, and the other that talked to themselves while playing. They found that the self-talkers showed more confidence and played better than those in the silent group.

⑤Self-talk also helps to improve memory. Researchers tested four different ways to memorize things: read silently, reading aloud, listening to someone else read and listening to a recording of oneself reading. "Those who read out loud record the information best," Researchers said in their study. It's because the information will probably become a long-term memory if it is said out loud.

Skate boarding, surfing and sport climbing were parts of the 2024 Paris Olympics. But they made their first Olympic appearance at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. These are all popular sports among young people. Would you like to give them a try?

My New Year's Resolution

New Year is coming soon and it's time to make resolutions. 

Alena is from Texas. She dreamed of becoming an engineer at the age of 16 when she was 12 years old. It may sound impossible, but Alena is not a common girl. She's both clever and hard-working. She is now studying engineering at her dream university. She would love to build a rover (探测器) to go to space. 

Believe it or not, the story started with Lego (乐高) . At the age of4, Alena loved playing around with different kinds of Lego and showed great love for building things. Little Alena loved to look at the stars at night. Once, she said seriously, "Mom, I'm going to work for NASA. I'm going to travel to space in a rocket. " Her mom was surprised at the little girl's dream. She couldn't believe what she heard. 

Alena is planning to write a book for children. "I' d like to ask more girls to follow their dreams, " she said. 

Alena won't let anything stop her working hard for her dreams. "When I plan to do something, I just go for it, " she said. 

We live in the age of the computer. Scientists, teachers, writers and even students use to do all kinds of work  . more than thirty years ago, computers couldn't do much work. They were big and expensive. Only a few people were  in them and knew how to use them. Today computers are smaller and  . They can do a lot of work for people. 

Computers play  important role in our everyday life. They can work faster than people. Besides, they  fewer mistakes. Computers can help people  different work.  use them to write articles. Teachers use  to give lessons. Students use them to study. Nowadays computers are necessary in our daily life. They make our life easier and more interesting. What do you think our lives will  like without computers?
