Essential hiking safety tips for beginners

● Never hike alone on unknown trails(路线)

One of the key rules of hiking safety is to avoid hiking alone on unfamiliar trails.  . If possible, choose experienced hikers to accompany you. Their knowledge of the trail can be invaluable(极有用的) in keeping you and the others with you safe and on track.

Planning ahead is always important.  . In terms of hiking safety tips, the most important advice to remember is careful planning. 

● Share your plans

 Before heading out on a hike, make sure to inform (知会) someone outside your hiking group about your planned route and schedule. Provide details such as the trail you' ll be taking, your expected return time and any emergency contacts(紧急联系人). 

● Never leave without a first-aid kit(急救箱)

 Don't pack light just because you are going on a short hike. Certain items should never be missing from your backpack. One of these is a first-aid kit. 

 Remember, any hıkıng trip can go wrong  . Packing a first-aid kit allows you to take quick action in case of injury This way you can keep the situation under control before rescuers arrive, if they are needed.

 Don't try to impress others and don t set your expectations too high. Start with low-to medium-difficulty(低到中等难度的) shorter trails and plan your trips to aim for ideal(理想的) weather. Even experienced hikers can have problems if they lose focus. This is why, as a hiking beginner, it's really important to remember the basic safety rules for hiking.

 Blue is a very common color in our lives-the sky, the sea and even face masks are often blue. But this color is not frequently (经常) seen in plants. Why is that?

 You must have heard of"city bu city"(meaning city or not city), an internet buzzword(流行语) created by foreign blogger Baobaoxiong. It's used to ask if a place feels like a big, fashionable city. 

 Millions of foreigners like Baobaoxiong are visiting China and posting their travel videos. The visa-free transit policy (过境免签政策) plays an important role in this trend(潮流). Travelers from 54 countries can stay in China for up to six days without a visa as long as they have a travel document(文件) and a connecting ticket(联运机票) to leave. 

 The visa-free transit policy started in 2013. Back then, it allowed travelers to stay for 72 hours in seven different big cities in China. Now, travelers can stay for 144 hours in 41 places 19 across 19 provincial areas . It has attracted more travelers to China . In the first three months of this year, 266 percent more foreigners came to China through visa-free policies compared with the same period last year, according to the National Immigration Administration of China (国家移民)管理局).

 Li Xiang: Congratulations, Aslam.

Aslam: Thanks. It was a difficult match,  the team from Iran also played very well. I'm so pleased to win the match.

 Li Xiang:  a wonderful match! Each of you did such a good job! We know kabaddi is one of ( popular) games in India. Can you tell us more about the sport?

 Aslam: Of course. Kabaddi is a traditional sport in India with a history  over 4,000 years and in Indian it means"you can't catch me". During the game, all the players must shout"Kabaddi! Kabaddi!" without stopping. This is how the game got ( it) name.

 Li Xiang: That's interesting! And how many players are there in the game?

 Aslam: Well, in a match, there are two ( team), each starting with seven players. A player scores when he or she touches the player from the other team and return s ( safe). At the same time, every player in the other team  ( try) hard to stop the touch, so the match can be very exciting.

 Hello, my name is Tony Smith. I come from Cambridge, a beautiful city about 80 kilometres to the (北方) of London. It has a (人口) of about 120,000. Every year, (百万) of people come to visit Cambridge. Tourists enjoy the boat trips along the River Cam. It's (宽的) and cleaner than many other rivers.

I came to study in Beijing two years ago. I live (远) from school in my class, so I get up earliest and take the underground. At school,I enjoy (练习) Chinese with my classmates. I also love football and I'm in the school team. Next week, we are going to play (对抗) HAS. To win the match, I (改善) myself by training hard with my teammates from now on.

 After school, my classmates often take me around Beijing. Last week, we visited Lao She Teahouse. The (魔术) shows were interesting but the Beijing Opera was difficult for me to understand. Maybe I will know better about it one day (如果)I watch and listen several times.

 Anyway, I do love Beijing, though I often miss my home town, Cambridge.

City and People

 It was a sunny. sky after the typhoon(台风) passed and some people found a very large hole next to their village.

 All of the villagers came out to see the hole. They looked inside, but it was dark and nobody could see anything. What happened? Was it a fox hole?

A young man was so surprised that he shouted at the hole, "Hey, come out!" However, only his voice came back from the hole. Then, he picked up a small rock(岩石) and threw(扔) it down the hole. But, still, nothing came out.

 To find out the fact of the hole, the villagers asked a scholar(学者) for help. After looking over the hole, he found nothing, but he tried to look confident, and said for sure, "It's no problem to fill(填充) it up!"

 Seeing this, a businessman came up and offered to buy the hole with lots of money. Later, he built up a company called"Hole-Filling Company". He told everyone the company could hold any litter but they had to pay for it.

 From then on, more and more people came here to put their litter into the hole:

 Hospitals got here to throw the dead people.

 The government put all the dirty water into the hole.

 Slowly, the sea and sky became beautifully blue. Under this clear sky, more and more buildings were built up.

 One day, a worker was working on the top of a tall building. Looking at the blue sky, clear water and green plants, he was happy that the city was getting more and more beautiful.

 Suddenly, he heard a strange shout above his head, "Hey, come out!"

 However, when he looked up, he found nothing. When he sat down for a rest, a rock flew down in front of him from the direction(方向) of the strange shout. He picked it up and wanted to know why it came from the sky.

 Of course, he didn't know anything about the rock. Only the young man in the village could know that: it was the same rock that he threw into the hole.

 Several days later, the sky was not as beautifully blue as before. More and more litter fell down from the sky-dead people, dirty water...

 The capybara, a kind of animal from South America, is the largest living rodent(啮齿目动物) in the world. It lives along the lakes and rivers. It can grow up to about 1.3m etres long and weigh up to 79kg. It looks like a large mouse with a big nose, strong legs, small ears and a very short tail. Usually mouse-like animals may not be welcomed by other animals but the capybara always has a lot of different animals around it, because it's friendly to them. Do you know what makes the capybara such a friendly animal?

 As the largest rodent animal in the world, the capybara has only a few enemies(敌人). Because of this, it spends most of the day swimming in the water and lying by the river, together with other animals. It lives such a comfortable life that nothing seems to make it worry.

 For most animals, it's safe to stay around the capybara. The capybara never eats meat. It mainly eats fruit and some plants, so it won't hurt other animals. The capybara can even help other animals to keep safe. It can notice the danger more easily and the strong legs can help it run away more quickly. When other animals see that, they can also hide(躲藏) themselves in time.

 Sometimes, the capybara is happy to be"the animal bus". It's common to see other animals riding on the back of a capybara. That's because these animals can help make the capybara clean by eating the lice(虱子) on its body.

 Now the capybara is also becoming popular among people. Some people love the capybara so much that they want to keep it as a pet.

"I'm so excited to build sandcastles!" said James. "I'm going to build a big one, with lots of rooms!"

"Your sandcastle will be good, but not as good as 1 !" said Nova. "Why don't we have a competition(比赛)?" James thought it was a good idea and 2 her.

They were busy building their sandcastles. Nova built a great one! It had big towers and little windows. She even made sand chairs for little crabs to relax in!

 When seeing it, James was very 3 . At first, he was so sure his sandcastle would be pretty good for a king. However, each time he tried to build a tower on the top of the sandcastle, it didn't work. Then he tried to place other decorations(装饰品) on it, 4 they only made it worse! The sandcastle finally became a disaster(彻底的失败) and he knew Nova already 5 him.

 Nova looked over at James's sandcastle, and then at James. Watching him sit by his sandcastle sadly, she thought she should offer some 6 .

My Summer Vacation

My parents are always very busy with their work. When I don't need to go to school, I have to stay at home by（I）. 

Sometimes I feel really bored and want to go on a trip. （lucky）, last week my parents had a four-day vacation, so they decided  （take）  me to Guilin by train. When we got to the station, we saw many people there and we  （wait） over an hour for the train. 

Guilin is a  （wonder） city with beautiful scenery （风景）. There are new buildings everywhere in the city. People there are friendly and the streets are very clean. On the second day after we arrived there, we rented （租） three   （bicycle） and rode them around the city.   we were hungry, we stopped to eat some food. On the （three） day, we took a boat trip along the Lijiang River to Yangshuo.  the way, we saw mountains of different shapes （形状）. We spent three days in Guilin and had  enjoyable time.

The boy thought he was  to make money.
