My Favorite Festival Is▲

There are many different kinds of traditional festivals in China. 

Joris Hutchison is thirteen years old and he's from America. He loves cheetahs (猎豹). When he hears that there (be) only about 7,000 cheetahs in  world and that they are in great (danger), Joris Hutchison is upset and he wants to do something. 

With his (mother) help, he works with a wildlife sanctuary (野生生物保护区) in Namibia, a country in Africa. He  (help) to get money by selling things like T-shirts  flowers. He also has parties to get money. 

Joris uses the money to buy special collars (项圈)  cheetahs. In Namibia, farmers kill cheetahs because they are afraid that the big cats may eat their farm (animal). With the collars farmers can (know) where cheetahs are.

Last month, I took a vacation to the seaside. I was excited and swam very far, past some boats and out to the sea.

Then I saw a shark(鲨鱼) moving to me! I was  scared. I tried to swim back to the beach. But I couldn't get to the beach quickly because the beach was too far away. Suddenly I saw another two animals in the water. They were ! They pushed(推)me away from the shark. I sat on  back when they swam to the beach.

Soon we were near the beach. The shark did not follow us. When I  at the beach, they swam away. I will never forget how these  and beautiful, animals saved my life.

A plant is a living thing. It stays in one place. But it grows and changes, just like you. Plants can be big or small. Some have flowers. Others also grow fruits. Trees are plants, too.

Plants are a big part of our world. Farmers grow fruits and vegetables. These plants give us food. Some plants can be used to make clothing. Your T-shirt is made from cotton plants. Other plants are homes for animals.

You can use your body to remember the parts of a plant. Your arms are like leaves. Your body is like a stem(茎). Your feet are like roots. Roots hold the plant in the ground. The stem helps the plant stand up tall. Leaves take in the sunlight.

Seeing is believing(相信). but if our eyes don't work, how can we see to believe?

Today more and more kids wear glasses before going to middle school because they spend(花费)too much time watching TV or playing computer games without a rest. We must do something to protect our eyes. Without them, the world is like a house without any light. How important our eyes are! 

Love your eyes. Every day, when we open our eyes, we can see the lovely smiles of friends and parents, beautiful flowers and green trees.

Remember to give your eyes a rest. First, when you watch TV or use the computer for an hour or two, it is time to stop to have a 30-minute rest. Second, you need to do eye exercises at school. Closing your eyes for a rest is also helpful. In these ways, you will feel more comfortable(舒适的).So do your eyes.

    ▲     While doing homework and reading, it is important to keep a distance(距离) of 30 cm between your eyes and books. Never rub(摩擦)your eyes with dirty hands. Before and after swimming, use eye drops.

Eat something good for eyes, such as carrots, fish and eggs.

Bill Smith is an 80-year-old man. He lives with his brother Bob Smith in Texas, America. In his free time, he likes making things and helping others. There are many stray (流浪的) dogs in the street, so Bill wants to help them.

The brothers find nine dogs. The dogs always have no food to eat, so they are not healthy. Then they let these nine dogs live with them and eat with them.

"Everyone needs a little fun in life. Stray dogs need it, too," Bill Smith says. "I think it must be very interesting for them to travel by train."

So Bill and his brother buy some old buckets(桶子)and make a dog train. It is very long. The dogs are happy to see the train, and Bill Smith takes them on trips by train every week.

"These dogs don't have families, but they are lucky to have a good time with us now. I'm very happy to be with them, too," Bill says.
