1、 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
The buses at the Uluru Sunset Viewing Area were parked in rows. Guides set up tables with drinks and snacks.
"Ten minutes to go! Are we ready?" Our guide asked.
"Five minutes, everyone! Got your cameras?"
Then, the sun started to set.
People from different countries——America, Britain, and France——all watched as the big rock turned bright red. Many took pictures in front of it, with different poses(姿势)。
After the sun went down, we got back on the bus. The guide smiled, "That was a pretty good sunset! But I' ve seen better ones." Behind me, Adam,a student from England, put his earphones back in."Well, that's enough of that rock," he said.
I was tired. We woke up at five in the morning and drove over 100 miles to see the sunset at Uluru. Now,I felt a little empty. Why was this rock so special? Why did we come all this way? Maybe my sons would always remember this moment. But no, they had even missed it! They were busy eating at another tour group's table because they had better chips.
Nowadays, people can buy almost everything. But new things soon become old, and people get bored. So, they start traveling to find"special experiences". Many people buy books like 1,000 Places to See Before You Die and mark the places they have visited.
But famous sights are never the best part of a trip. Sometimes, they feel like a duty, like visiting a boring relative. The more I travel, the more I feel that the real beauty of a place is in small everyday details(细节), not in famous buildings or scenery. So, throw your book away and forget about the checklist——there are surely more than 1,000 wonders in the world.

14、短文填空;以下是一则短文,请阅读短文,并从下列方框里的六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中,使原文的意思完整、连贯。
As a Chinese saying goes, "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune(继承财产). If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody. "
For thousands of years, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others. Scientific research provides information to support the idea that helping others may be the secret to living a life that is happier, healthier, and more meaningful.
Giving can make you feel great. Plus, the more you give, the more you find a reason for living, a sense of what life means, and joy. Follow these tips.
Find your interest. It' s not how much you give. You might care about one cause more than others, and that' s okay. Support the cause that feels right for you.
Give your time. Not everyone has the same amount of money, but we all have time. We can use some of our time to help others, even if it' s just a few hours or days.
Michael Norton, a professor at Harvard Business School in Massachusetts, says, "It brings more happiness to give money (or services) to someone who has a clear reason for how they will use it. "
A. Listen to music to relax yourself.
B. It' s how much love you put into giving.
C. Help groups that have clear goals(目标)。
D. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing.
E. As we all know, it' s better to give than to receive.
F. Giving someone your time is often better than giving them money directly.

Nasugraq Rainey Hopson is a writer and illustrator(插图画家). She has written short stories and created art inspired by her Iñupiaq culture. Hopson' s first novel(小说), Eagle Drums, tells a story from the old tales of the Iñupiaq people. It' s about a big and special celebration.
In the book, the hero Piŋa suffers from the grief of losing his brothers, who travelled to a nearby mountain and never returned. Piŋa then goes to the mountain, where he meets the eagle god(鹰神), Savik. Savik gives Piŋa two choices: either to follow him or to face the same bad luck as his brothers. Piŋa' s choice leads himself on an adventure where he learns about the dances and songs of the Iñupiaq people.

At the ninth China Collegiate Computing Contest Mobile Application Innovation Contest held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang in November 2024, a sign language learning app named ArtfulSign (Miaoshou in Chinese) became the top winner.
Developed by hearing-impaired(有听力障碍的)students from Beijing Union University, the app was made to help normal people learn sign language to communicate with those who have hearing loss.
The coolest thing about ArtfulSign is that it uses AI to help teach sign language. Each sign language word is shown through real-life video examples.
