China is home to tea and has a long history of tea culture. As time goes by, the tea culture has developed greatly.

In the Tang Dynasty, people not only drank tea, but also ate the tea leaves. That was why tasting tea was called "tea-eating". In the Song Dynasty, the way people drank tea became romantic and was full of art. In the Ming Dynasty, tasting tea returned to its true nature of "drinking tea". People put dry tea leaves in the cup and then poured boiled water into it before drinking. And in the Qing Dynasty, the tea culture finally came into common families. Drinking tea became part of their daily life. At the same time, there were more tea houses.

Nowadays, making tea around a stove (围炉煮茶) has become popular among young people. This is a special way of drinking tea. Many young people like to choose a quiet and comfortable environment to make tea. While boiling tea, there must be delicate and tasty snacks like small oranges and sweet potatoes on the charcoal (炭) stove, satisfying people's eyes and mouth. And beautiful cups and teapots would bring them more pleasure in mind. What they enjoy are art, spiritual world and the deep Chinese tea culture. Away from their busy work and life, they feel calm and peaceful in mind.

In fact, people began to make tea around a stove in ancient times. As time passes by, Chinese tea culture continues to develop. Modern tea culture has mixed traditional and modern art and life, showing a more open and colorful culture.

China now has 43 items (项目) on the intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) list, making it the nation with the most entries (入选) on the list in the world. Qinqiang (秦腔) was selected as the national intangible cultural heritage in 2006. It is special for its simple, bold (大胆的), artistic opera style.

Hou Yan, 48, is the president of Qinqiang Theater of the Ningxia Performing Arts Group. She started learning Qinqiang Opera from her mother when she was 4 years old.

Training in Qinqiang Opera is very hard. In 1985, Hou studied at an art school in Ningxia. She needed to do waist bending (下腰) and somersaults (翻筋斗) each day. In training, she had to hold each move for half an hour. A small mistake could mean she had to start all over again.

Her hard work paid off. Hou started to work in a troupe (剧团) in Yinchuan at the age of 16. But in 1993, pop and western music bit Qinqiang Opera hard. The troupe had to close and Hou left the opera stage.

In the past few years, however, China has worked hard to build up its traditional culture. Hou went back to the stage in 2000. She felt happier than ever before.

Now, Hou's team gives hundreds of Qinqiang Opera performances every year in Ningxia. The average (平均的) age of Hou's opera team is 30.

"As we become more confident (自信的) about our culture, more young people become promoters (传播者) of our own culture," Hou said.

The Yangtze River dolphin is one of the most endangered animals on Earth. You can only find the dolphins in the Yangtze River in China. They are so rare that they are often called the Giant (巨大的) Panda under water. They like to live in groups and can grow up to 2.5 metres long. Along the Yangtze River, there were many fishing villages in the past. And overfishing put these dolphins in great danger. What a pity!

Toucans are colourful birds with big beaks (鸟喙). They live in rainforests in Central and South America. They are endangered because people keep cutting down trees. They have no place to live. What's more, people are catching them as pets.

The island of Madagascar is home to aye-ayes (指猴). They are dark brown or black and have very large eyes. Aye-eyes spend their lives in trees and don't come down. People in Madagascar think the aye-aye is a symbol of bad luck. So they often kill aye-ayes when they see them. There are only a few thousand aye-eyes left.

My name is Jenny. Today is my fourth day in junior high. I want to introduce (介绍) my new school to you. It is a big, beautiful and convenient (方便的) school.

①Parents are the most important people in our life. They influence our lives in so many ways. They teach us almost everything about living, give us strength of character and make us who we are. It is because of them that we become able to do our duties. The things that we are able to do are their gifts to us.

All we can do for them is to give them love and happiness and try to make them feel proud of us. First of all, you need to follow all the good things they taught you when you were very young. It could be about eating healthily or exercising in a regular (有规律的) way, or it could be about helping anyone who needs help.

Not making complaints (抱怨) is also a good way. So don't complain about what you don't have. Learn to appreciate (感激) and love what your parents give you.

Most people nowadays wear sneakers (跑鞋), leather shoes or boots. But in ancient China, many people made (they) own cloth shoes.

Tangchang,town in Sichuan province with 700 years of shoe-making history, is known its cloth shoes. Tangchang cloth shoes are comfortable and they don't get wet (easy).

Tangchang cloth shoes (be) popular in China in 1980s. According to China Daily, there were five Tangchang cloth shoe factories in Chengdu alone. In 2018, Tangchang cloth shoes were added to Sichuan's intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) list. Cloth shoes always look nice, making cloth shoes is not easy. Growing up in Tangchang, Lai Shufang, 66, is a master of making cloth shoes and has been making them for over forty (year). The job is much (difficult) than before, and sneakers become more popular. Many factories producing Tangchang cloth shoes were shut down. The last one, where Lai worked, shut down in 1998.

 Recognize that and know that if you can get through them, you will become stronger. It's a lucky person who never encounters (遭遇) hard times while going through life, but what's important is how you deal with them. Always try to find some good things in all the bad things you are going through.

Count "good things"

Are you feeling sorry for yourself? Remember that it's important to remind yourself of what's good about your life. Try creating a list of things that you're thankful for. Spend a few minutes every evening writing down three nice things that had happened to you that day.  Stroked (轻抚) a dog in the park? Write it down. Laughed at a joke played by your partner? Put that on the list, too.

Start the day well

A nice morning will give you the best possible chance of picking up good vibes every day.  To keep yourself healthy, follow the rule of three as you prepare your breakfast—one wholegrain carbohydrate (全麦碳水化合物), one serving of dairy (奶制品), and one piece of fruit.

Bring positivity into your life by making time for enjoyable activities. Set aside an hour to play a board game with your family. Take a walk where you can explore somewhere new in your neighborhood.

Once upon a time in China, there was a company called Xiaomi. They made smartphones and many other cool gadgets (电子装置). One day, Xiaomi decided to do something big and different. They created their very first electric car, called the SU7, and started selling it to people. The boss of Xiaomi, a man named Lei Jun, told everyone that this new car would cost 215, 900 yuan (almost $30, 000). It was a big event, and people were very excited. In just 27 minutes, more than 50, 000 people ordered the new car.

Now, Xiaomi isn't the only company making electric cars. There are other big names like Tesla and BYD. Tesla is a car made in America, and it's known for being fast and modern. The price to start for a Tesla 3 is a bit higher, 245,900 yuan. But Xiaomi's car, the SU7, can go really, really far—at least 700 kilometers on one charge (充电)! That's more than the Tesla Model 3, which can only go 567 kilometers. At the same time, Xiaomi is thinking about how their customers use their phones and computers. They made the SU7's brain operating system (操作系统) work like the ones in Xiaomi's phones and laptops (台式电脑). This way, people can get everything connected and easy to use.

Xiaomi has big dreams for their electric car business, but no one knows yet whether they will succeed. Some analysts (分析师) think that Xiaomi's big idea will help make electric cars better and more exciting for everyone. So, what do you think? Will Xiaomi's SU7 develop faster than Tesla and become the king of electric cars? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: the world of electric cars just got a lot more interesting.
