Once upon a time, a sage (贤人) was passing through a street of the capital city of a kingdom. While he was walking, he noticed a coin on the side of the road and picked it up. The sage was used to living a simple life and had no use of that coin, so he thought of giving it to the one who was in need of it.

He strolled (漫步) around the streets throughout the day but didn't find such a person. At night he reached a rest area and spent his night there. The next morning, he woke up and was doing his daily activities. King who was passing by that rest area saw him and ordered his soldiers to stop there.

King went to the sage and said, "Great Sage! Today, I will fight with another state so that my kingdom can be expanded (扩大). Please bless me to be victorious." After thinking, the sage took out the coin he was holding on and gave it to the king. The king was confused and surprised about this, so he asked, "Why did you give me this coin? What's the meaning of this?"

The sage explained, "Oh, great King! I found this coin yesterday while strolling around the streets of your capital. But I had no use of it, so I decided that I would donate (捐赠) it to someone needy. The whole day I walked around meeting people in the city. Whomever I communicated with, I found that they are living happily and satisfied with whatever they have and because of that I still keep this coin. Today, the king of this state, still has the greedy desire (贪欲) to gain more and isn't satisfied with what he already has. So I feel like a person who needs this coin most is you."

The king realized his mistake. He thanked the sage for the precious life lesson and gave up the planned war.

Last year, fashion designer Jiang Xi made online videos of her practicing Baduanjin. They soon (enjoy) great popularity among Chinese young people. "When practicing Baduanjin, we can keep (we) away from the stress and worry of living in big cities," said Jiang Xi. Under her influence, Jiang Xi's brother Jiang Nan also enjoyed Baduanjin. they live in different cities, the two have found a new family connection (联系) in Baduanjin.

Few people knew about online food delivery (外卖) apps ten years ago, but today, many would find it hard to live without them. For better or for worse, online food delivery services have changed the way we eat.  

These services no doubt have many advantages. They provide jobs for millions of people and help restaurants find more customers. Since the apps are very easy to use, they also do good to customers: we can now have meals delivered at any time of day. This is especially important for people who might not have time to cook. Not only do these apps save time, they also provide us with plenty of restaurants to choose from.  They can buy meals and foods more easily with these apps.

 First, they make it even easier to order unhealthy food. Food safety is another problem: it can be hard to know where the food comes from. As delivery men need to send the orders as quickly as possible, some pay little attention to traffic rules.  What's more, delivery services are creating too much packaging waste, and this will be harmful to the environment.

There are many advantages of online food delivery services, but we need to make sure that we make the right choices in the long run. We should do our best to avoid waste. We also need to make sure what we eat is healthy. Next time you are thinking about ordering in, ask yourself whether you really need to.

As students, there are so many things that influence us. To make us study better, here are several good study ways that may work.

First, find a quiet environment in your home or school for studying. In that way, you will always connect the place with studying when you are there, which makes it easier for you to pay attention. Make sure that you will not be interrupted (打扰) there, especially your phone, computer or other electronic products and it can be used for a long time.

Sometimes studying in a group leads to a more successful result than studying alone. You can have discussions about some difficult questions. Your study partners will help you find more studying methods and you can understand some problems better, because people of the similar age always have an easier way of explaining things to each other.

Note-writing can let you understand better and remember what you have read. Taking down notes means you do not have to go through all the reading materials again; instead, you will only have to go through the shorter notes. It is also a lot easier to find information in case you need it.

Once you achieve the goals that you have set for yourself, make sure that you give yourself a little encouragement. It can be as simple as having a delicious meal in a restaurant you have always wanted or buying yourself a pair of shoes. That will keep you going, and you will look forward to achieving your goals more.

When I entered high school, I decided to take Latin (拉丁文) class at school. I was so excited and really expected to learn it well.

However, the Latin class turned out to be not that interesting. Each day, Mr. Keady, the teacher, would ask us to open our books and read aloud the Latin forms of words. This was the way he taught us every day. That was until one afternoon when, once again, we were asked to open our books, and I decided to speak up.

When Mr. Keady asked what was wrong, I explained why I found his class humdrum, how I had expected more, and that his teaching method seemed old-fashioned. When I finished speaking, I expected Mr. Keady to angrily send me to the head teacher.

To my surprise he sat at his desk quietly, looking disappointed and tired. After a moment of silence, Mr. Keady spoke. He quietly said that he would think carefully about what I had said.

In the following weeks, the Latin class didn't become the exciting learning environment I had hoped for, but Mr. Keady did try harder to interest us in his classes.

Maybe some people would praise what I did, but even so many years later, I feel bad about it. If I saw him now, I would tell him how much I regretted what I'd done that day in class. I would also tell him that he taught me a wonderful lesson. Following my unkind words, Mr. Keady showed me that being wounded doesn't mean you have to give away your dignity (尊严), and no one can take it away from you.

Lian Po and Lin Xiangru were two important people in the State of Zhao. Lian was a brave general and Lin was an excellent advisor. Lian was famous for winning battles (战役) and making his enemies scared. Lin, on the other hand, was clever and knew how to use words to solve problems. He once saved the Heshibi for the King of Zhao and became a trusted advisor.

 But there was a problem. Lian felt worried after Lin got a higher position than him. He thought he should be given honor for his achievements on the battlefields. Sometimes, Lian even spoke ill of Lin behind his back.

Lin didn't want any trouble, so he avoided meeting Lian. He didn't want to argue or fight. Lian though he was winning because it appeared that Lin was scared of him. Lin's friends, however, were upset about this. They thought Lin was too kind and weak. But Lin explained that he didn't have reasons to fight Lian because it would harm their country. He believed that if they pull together, the State of Zhao would become powerful.

When Lian heard this, he felt ashamed. He realized he was being foolish and also caused trouble for their country. So he said sorry to Lin, and they became good friends. They worked together to serve the State of Zhao and forget about personal problems. Lian and Lin showed us that even if we have differences, we can still put aside our pride and achieve great things.

When my children were younger, we used to walk around the lake near our home.

There are a lot of websites offering advice about the best ways to learn languages.  However, language learning is something that will take you a lifetime. It's impossible to learn a language in only a few weeks. 

The thought of learning a language can be quite scary. Many people never try, as they listen to that voice in their heads that keeps telling them they can't do it because it's too much work.  When you achieve each one, you feel good and the fear goes away. 

Most language experts agree it's better to learn new words and grammar by using topics that interest you. Reading long lists of words is not a good way of learning new vocabulary.  Reading those words in an interesting article, however, might not make you sleepy and is a much better way to remember them. 

Many people will tell you that you can only really learn a language when you're young.  Instead, just keep on learning because there's plenty of evidence（证据）to show that adults can become just as good though they learn in different ways from children. 

Learning more about your own language can actually help you when it comes to trying a new language. As you see, if you want to learn to use anything well, you need to understand how it works, and languages are no different And then use your knowledge of that language to help you develop skills in the new language.
