 When Sammie was just 8, she thought about a question: What breaks your heart?"For me, it's seeing people who need a friend," the seventh grader from Indiaga, the US, told People magazine.

Da summer camp, Sammi e learned about buddy benches(伙伴长椅). These benches are (座位) at a school playground. A lonely child can sit on it, which shows that he or she is in need of a friend.

"It would be (有创造力的) and really cool to have one at my school," Sammie said. "And I got the idea of making benches from bottle caps(瓶盖)." She got into action as soon as she came up with the idea. She picked h of bottle caps and found a factory to turn them into benches. "These benches can be used again and are (真正) good for the environment." She (添加).

 To ask more people to join her, she s her idea online. It soon got popular around the world. She was so surprised when she even got bottle caps from other countries.

 Today, Sammie has helped to (建造)200 benches in schools and neighborhoods.B she has no plans of stopping. "I just look forward to making a difference," she said.

"Today is Mom' s birthday, Mosh," Nick said, "Let' s (make) her favorite banana bread." Nick took out  cookbook(菜谱). "I read it, and you need to follow the steps. Get out a bowl and a spoon while I turn  the oven." Nick read from the cookbook. "(one), mash(捣碎) the bananas in the bowl."

 The robot put the bananas into the bowl and was going to mash them with its hands. "Stop!" Nick said. "Let' s try this again. Peel the bananas, put them in the bowl, and mash them with the spoon." Nick watched when Mosh (peel) the bananas and put the peel(外皮) into the bowl. Again, Nick told Mosh to stop told it what to do with the bananas.

 Then Nick read, "Add the eggs. No, wait," he said right away. Nick cracked (打碎) the eggs into the bananas.

"Last, add flour(面粉), milk and sugar," Nick said. "Mix everything together. Then pour the batter(面糊) into the bread pan." Mosh followed Nick' s (order) while Nick read the cookbook.

"I' ll put this in the oven," Nick said.

 Just then Kelly came into the room. " happened here?"

 Nick answered, "Robot and I are making banana bread for Mom's birthday. I think she will be (surprise)."

"If you want it to be a good surprise for Mom," Kelly laughed, "you need (give) it one more order. Clean up!"

"Let's go home," Liam said to his little sister, Flora, after their art class one Saturday morning. We' re late for 1 ."

 The night before, it had snowed hard. They had difficulty walking to their cozy home on Adelaide Street, passing through an empty building site. Suddenly, Liam heard a loud thud(砰的一声). He 2 only to see that Flora was gone. His sister had fallen into a deep hole. "Help!" she cried.

 If you think you are too shy and want to be a little outgoing, try the following. You can make it.

  There's no need to hide(隐瞒) it. When they get to know you are a shy kid, they' ll understand you better. This also helps you feel more relaxed when talking with others.

  People will think you are friendly and easy to talk to. Remember that other people have feelings too and most people will stay away from an angry-looking face.

  If you find it hard to do, you can say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to theose people?

  Turn your attention(注意力) to somewhere else. Think more about ways to enjoy the party or the games. Don't waste(浪费) time worrying about your looks or if people like you.

 Keep trying and one day you won't be"shy" any more when you talk to others.

What will you do if you want to be outgoing?(no more than 20 words) 

The19-year-oldgirl Peng Xiyue, like most girls of her age, enjoys sports like running and swimming. No one knows she has intellectual disability(智力残疾) if people just meet her for the first time.

 Peng was shy and easy to get angry before. She has changed a lot after going to a special education school. She has got training(训练) in the school for 6 years and won first place at the Special Olympic Games(特殊奥林匹克运动会) many times. She also learns about Chinese tea culture(文化) and other helpful skills there. She tells her father that she wants to work as a waitress in a restaurant to make a living(谋生) by herself after she finishes her studies in

2024. Her father is glad to hear that. He believes Peng will have no problem living a good life in the future.

 There are many children like Peng in the school. The school gives them training to help them keep healthy and get some important social skills for their future. Every weekend, volunteers go to the school to help the children exercise. Dong Ruixue, one of the volunteers, thinks people with disabilities are just a little different from others. "They need to beloved, "Dong says. And some college students choose to return to the school to work as teachers when they finish their studies. Wang Furong is one of them. She says working there is different from volunteer work(志愿活动) and she needs to have more skills.

 Now China has more than 85million people with disabilities. "We give different kinds of lessons to help them get jobs in the future. And I'm glad that some companies are willing to offer jobs to them,"says Bian Rong; the school's headteacher.

 It was about 1:00 in the morning. It was bright light in my neighbor's kitchen. I thought he might be having midnight food so I went back to my bed. Soon, there was a burning smell and I realized there must be something wrong. I jumped out of bed at once and went to have a look. I saw fire coming out of his kitchen. I shouted, "Fire! Fire!" But nobody heard me. I ran quickly to my house and called the Fire Department(消防队) and went back to my neighbor's house.

I knocked at the door and called my neighbor's name, but there was no answer. I tried to break into the house and saved a cat and a chicken. Then I poured water through the kitchen window but it was no use, because the fire was too big. Luckily, the firemen arrived and put out the fire in time.

 When my neighbor came back, he was sad because his kitchen was burnt down, but he thanked me for calling the Fire Department and saving his pets.

A week later, my neighbor invited me to his home for dinner. In his new kitchen, he took a photo of me. Later on, he gave me the photo as a gift. It made me happy.

 Dancing is popular all over the world. People usually dance in theaters and parks. But Yang Liu,a woman in Guizhou, dances in an unusual place. Her stage is a single bamboo pole.

 Yang is a performer of bamboo drifting(独竹漂). It is a traditional skill in the girl's hometown. In the past, the local people crossed the rivers by riding on a bamboo pole. Now, bamboo drifting has developed into a folk(传统民间的) sport.

 Yang started to learn bamboo drifting at the age of seven. The bamboo pole is very slippery(滑的) and it never completely stops moving. Yang fell into the water again and again. But the girl didn't want to give up. She always got back up on the pole and tried again. She practiced hard every day for three years. Finally, she was able to keep her balance on the pole.

 But Yang didn't just stop there. She wanted to become a dancer on a bamboo pole. The girl practiced many difficult movements on the pole. She failed countless times, but she never stopped trying. Her hard work finally paid off. Now Yang, 24, has made a name for herself as a dancer on a bamboo pole. People can't believe their eyes whenever they watch her performances. Through Yang's dancing, many people now know more about bamboo drifting. They have discovered the beauty of this traditional skill.

 We know really well about ourselves.

 If you (ask) to describe yourself to someone else, what will you say? It can be difficult to see yourself from the outside,  knowing who you are can help you understand feelings better.

 The ability to have a good understanding of our own character is called self-awareness. If you' re self-aware, you are able to see yourself  (clear). You may also know that you love playing  instrument because you do well in it and music makes you happy, or that you like watching TV on your own because it helps you relax.

 Knowing what you like and dislike, what you are good at and what you find difficult allows you (make) better decisions about friendships, schoolwork and so on. You learn to trust (you) own feelings more and that can build up confidence. The World Health Organization (say) self-awareness is one of ten important life (skill) that can help young people live happier, healthier lives. Being self-aware doesn't mean only thinking of yourself.  understanding your own feelings, you will better understand other people, too.

 How do you learn to be self-aware? It's a good way to ask questions. But ask yourself questions that start with"" instead of"why". For example, if you don't understand why you keep arguing witha friend, ask yourself what you disagree on instead of why you' re arguing. Learning to be more self-aware is a skill and you learn it as you grow. So be brave and try out new things!

 Do you know Roma people? They were (普遍) known as Gypsies because they came from Egypt. For a long (时期) of time, they travered from place to place.

 Today, the Roma are living all over the world. They have kept their language and many (风俗). For example, it's important for Roma to marry other Roma and the parents usually (选择) the person their children will marry.

 Romany is the language Roma people used in their (日常的) lives. However, because the Roma have moved a lot, their language has developed in many different ways. So, it is without  (疑问) that Roma in one part of the world can hardly understand Roma from another part.

 Roma music is famous around the world, as many Roma throughout history have been musicians. Their music has a great (影响) on many other kinds of music, like classical and jazz.

 Roma don't usually assimilate(同化) into host countries, as governments (阻止) them from marrying the (当地) people. They even can't travel or wear their traditional clothes. They have been (对待) as slaves(奴隶) and forced to change their names.

 But today, the Roma are finding ways to live peacefully with others while keeping their own culture."There is a will within us to continue to live as a people," says George Kaslov, "All the other ethnic (种族) groups who came to America assimilate gradually with time going, but not the Roma. We hold out."

"Rock, paper and scissors" is a typical game which gave us  memory in our childhood. It is said that people played it about 2, 000 years ago in China. Today, people play it  the world. In Indonesia, it's known as"ant, person, elephant". People use different hand  in different countries. But the instruction of the game is the same all over the world.

 Many people think"rock, paper, scissors" is all about luck. But the game is not always accidental. A 2014 study in China  two key patterns in the way people played. The fact is that winners always their winning hand gestures.

 So what's the best way to win this game? Expert players not only think about their next move, but also what their players' next move might be.

 This morning was not going well. After two hours' hard work, I was already falling behind. Sitting on the examination table was my next1 , a girl of five-year-old in a pretty pink dress. Her right hand was in a bowl of cleansing(清洁的) water with medicine,2 her large brown eyes had tears in them.
