 Nowadays, there has always been a problem between young people and their parents. Young people are often unhappy when they are with their parents, because they think their parents don't understand them. They often say their parents are too strict with them, and they are given too many rules. Parents often find it difficult to get their children's trust. They seem to forget how they felt when they were young.

 For example, young people like to do things without much thinking. It's one of their ways to show that they have grown up and they can deal with difficult things. Older people are different  from them. They plan things ahead(提前) and don't easily change their plans.

 Young people often make their parents angry, but they don't want to cause any trouble. The young just want to keep themselves from the old people's world and they want to make a new culture of their own. But if their parents don't understand what they like, young people will feel lonely.

 If you plan to do what you like, you'd better win your parents' support and try to make them understand you. If your parents see that you have a high sense of responsibility, they will certainly let you do what you want to do.

It was a hot day in July, 1954. On that day, a man arrived Haneda Airport in Japan. When checking his passport(护照), the officials found that he came from a country called Taured. The passport looked real,  the problem was that there was no such a country called Taured. a strange thing!

 The officials asked the man to point out where his country was on a map. He didn't find it, and couldn't understand why his country wasn't there. According to it should be there for over 1,000 years! And the officials were very to find his passport had been stamped(盖章) by many airports around the world.

Then the officials let him stay in  local hotel until they could find out the mystery. They tried to keep in with the company where he worked, but the company didn't know him.

Later, the officials went back to the hotel . When the door of his hotel room was opened, they  the man had disappeared. The officials believed that it was impossible to jump out of the window because the room was on the highest floor.

The man was never  again, and the mystery was never solved.

 What do you think is the most important invention in the last 1 ,000 years? Many people say that it's the printing press that allows us to print copies or books. Why is the printing press so important in human history?

 Before the printing press was invented, books were copied by hand. An ancient Roman book trader sometimes sold as many as 5,000 copies of a book that had been copied by slaves(奴隶). However, copying a book took so much time and was so expensive. As a result, usually only a small part of the people learned to read and owned books.

 In 1450, Johannes Gutenberg from Germany invented the modern printing press. The influence of his machine is sometimes compared to the invention of the Internet. Gutenberg's printing press was easy to use with languages such as English that had alphabetic(字母的) words. After 1450, thousands of copies of a book or a newspaper could be made quickly and cheaply. A great number of books and newspapers with ideas and pictures from all over the world came out.

 Reading has stimulated amazing changes in science and technology. We' ve learned how to  make money and even travel to far places. Computers, mobile phones, and the Internet have grown because millions of readers were created by the printing press.

 Since 1450, more and more people have become readers. These readers help the world to make progress at a fast speed.

 One day, Milton Wright saw a small toy helicopter(直升机). He bought this toy for his two 1 sons, Orville and Wilbur, who were both studying in a primary school. Mr. Wright didn't think that this simple act would 2 the creation of the world's first powered airplane. The toy gave the brothers a strong interest in flight(飞行). They soon began trying to 3 similar models by themselves.

I have two good friends. We were born in the same year and we grew up together. They are Chen Jie and Kate. They are both 12 years old.

 Chen Jie is outgoing and he is always happy. He likes black. Last week, we went shopping together. He bought some black T - shirts, and I bought a cute purple pencil box.

 What's worse, a lot of animals are killed by humans. Some people kill them for food or clothes. Others hunt them for money. Many animals lose their homes because of human activities. Since humans came to the Earth,1,000 species(物种) have gone.

Nearly 20,000 plants and animals are in danger of dying out.

 Today our Earth is in great danger. So it is time that we humans should realize our mistakes(错误) and do some things to protect the Earth.

Good study habits(习惯) are important for all students. When you have good study habits, you'll learn faster.

 Do you usually study in the living room? This is not a good place for study because it is usually too noisy. You need to study in a quiet place, such as your bedroom. A quiet place will help you learn better.

Before you begin to study, do not forget to clean your desk. It helps you study well, too. Light is also important. You'll feel tired easily if there is not enough light.

 Of all the good study habits you can develop (养成), asking questions is the key. Just ask. No one knows everything, but we can always learn from each other by asking questions.

 One easy but important habit is to tell yourself what you're studying for. Put your target(目标) on the wall next to your bed or desk. That means you'll see and think about it every day.

 When do you work best? Are you an early bird, a night owl (猫头鹰), or something in between? Find your most productive work time, and then plan to study at that time.

 One day in class, the teacher stood at the front of the class. She held up a (an) 1 and said, "Please smell the smell in the air!"
