Traditional Chinese festivals are a special part of the country's history. The Lantern Festival is one of them.

Chinese people celebrate the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month. And it celebrates the first full moon of the year. It also shows the end of the Spring Festival holiday.

Making and watching lanterns are special things to do at the festival. It was popular to make lanterns in the Tang Dynasty (朝代) (618—907). Later, in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127—1279), people made lanterns of different colours, like red, yellow and orange. In the Qing Dynasty (1644—1911), people took different kinds of lanterns and went to the streets.

The lanterns come in many sizes and colours now. Rabbit lanterns are really fun for children. Why are rabbits? Some people say rabbits are lucky animals. Others say that some old Chinese stories are about a jade rabbit (玉兔) living on the moon. The Lantern Festival comes on the first full moon of the year, so rabbits are a big part of the festival.

Do you like the school clubs in your school? There  a survey (调查) of students aged between eleven and eighteen in the UK. It shows clubs are good  young people.

81% of young students say that a club is very helpful to . 75% think it helps them learn something new. 95% say they like to join a  to make new friends. But only 8% of the 5,000 young people often go to clubs. About half of them  they can't make new friends. Young people spend more time by themselves. 73% spend their time  computer or watching TV shows at home.

Emma is 12 years old. It is  for her to make friends. She is shy  afraid to talk to others when she first joins a club. Soon she gets help. Now she  spending time with new friends at the club. When Emma meets problems, she will  her new friends for help.
