My friends and I went to the cinema. The movie was 1 and we all enjoyed it. Today was special, though, because Bobby 2 us. He was the coolest kid in our school. Everybody liked him.

Mr Joe recently became interested in antiques (古董) because of a TV show. He decided to be a private collector and dreamed of finding a treasure one day.

One Saturday, he visited small-town antique shops to search for the treasure. There were so many items in each of the places he visited-watches, furniture, Chinese paintings, American coins and even Indian instruments. He didn't know which ones to pick. As a new collector, he was interested in all of them. Finally, he bought a gold watch, a Chinese painting and an old lamp.

It was a fruitful journey. Joe couldn't wait to get home and invite his friends to share the joy of his collection. Among his friends, one had been collecting antiques for years. When he looked at Joe's treasures, he laughed and told Joe that all of the items he bought were new. They were not antiques!

He then explained that an antique collector must know a lot about history and art. Moreover,each piece in a collection has a story. It may take months and even years to study the culture behind it. It is never like the experience of shopping at a store.

Joe was a bit embarrassed when he heard the comments. However, it was a good start. He was determined to gain more knowledge and continue his explorations for "the pot of the gold" in the world of antiques.

Gao Hehe has farmed all his life. He never imagined that at the age of 68 he had become an actor that performed daily.

The performance takes place in Chiniuwa village, Shanxi Province. The villagers wear traditional clothes and hold different farming tools to show the daily lives and production activities of local people. The show has attracted millions of visitors across the country and won high praise. "I am simply playing myself," said Gao, mentioning that he can make 25 yuan from each show.

Chiniuwa village has a history of over 800 years and a population of around 1, 000 people. It lies at the top of a mountain by the Yellow River. In the past, villagers made a living by farming and only made 3, 000 to 5, 000 yuan each year. Today, however, the village has turned into a popular attraction. People of all ages in the village can join in the performances. They can make over 8, 000 yuanin a year through taking part in the show.

Chiniuwa village is also home to a farming culture museum. To build the museum, old items were collected from local people and were fixed by the scientists in 2006. Now, the museum houses over 100, 000 items which show local farming culture and traditions, making it a must-go place for the tourists.

From January to August 2024, the village welcomed over 215, 000 visitors and made 9.85 million yuan from tourism. "Thanks to these cultural performances, we have earned more money and greatly improved the quality of life." the villagers said.

Humans love to give things names. We name our children, our pets and sometimes even our cars. But according to scientists, we may not be the only ones. Research has suggested that elephants, just like us, use names to call each other.

Elephants communicate using sounds. Besides their famous trumpeting noise, they also use a kind of low sounds that humans can't hear. The researchers collected a lot of elephant sounds in Africa. They used machine learning to study the noises they heard and identified 469 special elephant "calls".

The leader of the research said that elephants have specific calls for each other. They respond when a call is addressed to them and pay little attention to the call for others. The researchers also found that elephants don't always use names when communicating with each other. They do it more often when they are far apart and when adults are talking to young elephants. Adults are found to use names more often than the young. It suggests that name-calling may be a skill that has to be learned over time.

The researchers tested the findings by playing elephant calls to a small group of the animals. In the test, the elephants responded actively when they heard recordings of their family members calling their names. This provides evidence to show that elephants can recognize their names.

The study opens a door into how elephants' mind works. If we can know how they communicate, we may be able to communicate with them more directly and live with them better.
