Lee loved tennis. He got a few old tennis balls and an old racquet(球拍)from his grandfather, who used to play tennis a long time ago.

Lee hoped that he would become an Olympies1 one day. 

However,  there was one 2 . Lee's family couldn't afford the tennis lessons, the white clothes or a new racquet and balls. Lee had tried playing with the other boys on the courts, but they had just 3 his old racquet and clothes. So Lee spent his time4 them play and then practising exactly what he had seen them do, against the wall at home.

Then came the day of Lee's first world competition. He played well but the other player was too good for Lee to9 . Finally, he came second. 

Lee didn't mind. He had come a long way from the boy who just stood and watched others playing. There was 10 time for winning in the future. For now, he was happy that he was on the road to the Olympics.

Scientists once did an interesting study. They put a mother in one place. They put her two-year-old child in another place. There was a telephone line between them. Soon, the mother and child were talking to each other. The mother and child, in this science study. were dolphins.

Dolphins are interesting animals. Many types of dolphins live in large ties. They have many different relationships and need a good communication system That explains why they need to speak up.

Scientists have known for a long time that animals can "talk" with each other. But dolphins have a special way of talking When they are in a group, they mainly use different sounds to express purposes. Scientists believe that the dolphins really are talking. However, they don't know what exactly the dolphins are saying.

Recently at Kewalo University in Hawaii, researchers have had some amazing results. Not only do the dolphins understand the meaning of human words, they also understand the importance of word order. For example, when they were asked to "touch the ball with your tail and then jump over it", they could perform the actions in the correct order.

Dolphins use body language, too. They "tell" something to another dolphin by moving their body in a special way. They also do it by opening and closing their mouths quickly.

Scientists hope to understand more about the dolphin language. They still have a lot to find out about these animals and so there are certain to be a few surprises in the future.

If you didn't know my father well, you might think that he was a serious man. But he wasn't. He was actually a wildly funny person What made him appear so serious was the fact that he never smiled with his mouth. He did it all with his eyes. And you could see a tiny golden light dancing in the middle of each eye.

My father was not what you would call an educated man and I doubt if he had read twenty books in his life. But he was a talented story-teller. He used to make up a bedtime story for me every single night, and the best ones were turned into serials(续集).

One of them was about an enormous man called BiGi. He was three times as tall as an ordinary man and his hands looked like bike wheels.

"BiGi lives in an underground cave and has a factory where he makes magic powder (粉末) that out of the dreams that children make when they are asleep," my father's stories continued. "he then carries the powder and blows it through a child's window and the powder floats around the room…and the child breathes it in…"

"And then what?" I asked.

"And then. Danny. the child begins to have a fantastic dream and when the dream reaches its most fantastic moment.. then the magic powder really takes over….and suddenly the dream is not a dream any longer but a real happening" 

Once I fell asleep as my father had hoped. he would kiss me good night and turned down the lamp. I could feel the love in his smiling eyes as I started my dream.

Beijing's Central Axis(中轴线) has begun a new chapter as it is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage List(联合国世界遗产名录), marking China's 56th site. The Central Axis is a centuries-old example of Chinese city planning and architecture(建筑)

Running 7.8 kilometers north to south through the heart of Beijing. the new World Heritage Site is made up of 15 buildings. At the northern end of the axis are the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. It then goes south through many places of interest including the Forbidden City and the Tiananmen Square, ending at the Yongdingmen Gate.

Building of the Central Axis began in the 13th century and was completed in the 16th century. It has been improved continuously for many centuries and still has influence on Beijing's city development to this day Between 2020 and 2023, an action plan for protection of the axis was put into practice. Various efforts include repair, research, improvement of the environment, and activities of the public.

The World Heritage officials stated that the Central Axis in Beijing meets the World Heritage List Requirements No 3 and No 4: It shows special values of a culture and is a great example of a building, design, or landscape(景观)that keeps important moments in human history. Ernesto Ottone, one of UNESCO's directors. said that Beijing's urban planning draws inspiration from Confucian thoughts and values This style of city planning can be dated back to Kaogongji from the Confucian classic Rites of Zhou(《周礼》)that was written more than 2.000 years ago.

China will continue making efforts to protect heritage buildings. encourage public participation, and wisely guide tourism development. A community with a shared future for mankind is developing along the Central Axis.

Probably you grew up with a stop-snacking mom. That is a mom who tells her kids that snacks are bad They will make you fat and hurt your teeth.

Make your own snacks. 

Most of those snacks have too much sugar and salt in them. Instead, fresh home-made snacks may be a healthier choice. The right snacks can keep you from eating too much at dinner and keep you from getting fat.

Eat things that offer you enough energy.

Things like bread and crackers are processed(消化) quickly by your body. If you are truly a big fan of bread, how about having some cheese to go along with it, and you'll get a winning snack.

Be careful of your hunger signals. 

But you might not really be hungry at all. Your body might just be telling you to take a rest. Have some water before you pull out a snack. That might be all you really need.

With one or two snack breaks during the day. you will probably find that you eat less at lunch and dinner. And eating less is a great way to start losing weight. Sorry about that, Mom. 

A game called "Black Myth: Wukong" has recently become a hot topic world wide.Since the official release(发行)of the game, over 18 million players  (pay)for it.

Black Myth is receiving a lot of praise for its artistic design and cultural influence. The game is  attractive that players can't wait to learn more about Chinese culture. As a result, the interest ancient Chinese literature has also increased among young people. Even those who were not fans of Chinese classics before may feel encouraged (read)the book.

In fact, games or movies rich in cultural elements(元素) can  (consider) as a type of cultural exchange. Playing the game could be a journey to experience the (beautiful) of Chinese culture- its music, landscapes, buildings, or even clothing.

Traditional culture is right there, waiting to be discovered. What we can do is to give people a  (close) look with better technology and more creative ideas.
