David wanted to be an airplane pilot one day. He loved everything about 1 .

One day Suzie McCash went shopping with her mum in Tynemouth, England. Suzie was four years old. Her mum didn't feel very well at the shops, so they went home.

In the house, Suzie's mum went to lie on the sofa. She was there for a long time. Her eyes were shut and it wasn't easy for her to breathe(呼吸). Suzie was worried. Was her mum really ill? Suzie went to the house next door, but the neighbors(邻居) weren't there. So she phoned 999 — the emergency telephone number for the police.

The police officer was very kind and Suzie was calm.

OFFICER: ‘What's your mummy doing now?'

SUZIE: ‘Um, she's just lying on the sofa and she's doing nothing.'

OFFICER: ‘Are her eyes open?'

SUZIE: ‘No, they're shut.'

And later…

OFFICER: ‘Can you open the door? Can you be a big girl?'

Soon the police were at their house and some doctors were there, too. About an hour later, Suzie's mum was OK again. A doctor said, "Her mummy was very sick. Without Suzie's phone call, her mummy might be dead(去世的) now!"

Suzie's story was in the newspapers and people were surprised and happy about it. She was a very brave girl and, a year later, she was in the news again because she was named a Child of Courage at the Pride of Britain Awards(奖) for helping her mother.

This year a new TV program called Young at Heart came out in the UK. The program matched teenagers with old people, and asked them to meet twice a week for two months. Two of these pairs were Amelia Ross and Mary Edwards.

Mary is a 76-year-old retired(退休的) nurse. She lives by herself. She likes meeting new people and keeping healthy, so she goes to dancing classes twice a week. Amelia is a 14-year-old student. She loves music and wants to be a singer. In her free time, she likes talking with her friends on her phone and playing her guitar. She doesn't like sports.

Before Mary met Amelia, she didn't like teenagers very much. She thought they spent too much time on their phones. As for Amelia, she thought that old people were boring and strict.

When they met for the TV program, Mary was surprised that Amelia didn't do any exercise, so she invited her to a dancing class and prepared her a dancing dress. Amelia didn't really want to go, but she had a great time. Mary is really outgoing and they laughed a lot together. 

Later Amelia found out that Mary had a mobile phone but didn't know how to use it. It was still in the box! Amelia showed her how to watch videos and listen to music online. Mary didn't like the same songs as Amelia, but she enjoyed finding out new music styles. In one episode(集) of the program, she asked Amelia to sing for her. Amelia was a bit shy, but she agreed. Mary loved her voice and said she should join in the school talent show. Amelia followed this advice. It was a good idea because she won first prize! 

By the end of the program, Amelia and Mary were good friends. Amelia still goes to the dancing classes and Mary is an expert with her phone now. They say they plan to meet every week in the future.

When you think of milk tea, maybe your face wears a big smile. When you hear traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), do you still keep your smile? But today, some interesting TCM drinks, are getting more and more popular with the young. 

Healthymilk tea comes. Tongrentang in Beijing started in 1669 and mainly sold traditional Chinese medicine to middle-aged and old people in the past. Now more young people accept the drinks from Tongrentang, after it began to sell the special milk tea with Chinese medicine ingredients(成分) in it. 

Plum syrup(酸梅汤) can make you happy and healthy. Some other famous TCM hospitals in Zhejiang Province served the plum syrup this summer. It is made from simple and clean ingredients without too much sugar. This goes with today's Chinese people's need for delicious but healthy cold drinks in hot summer. 

▲ Many young people like to make their own drinks. For example, there is a kind of home-made drink. People add some Gouqi berries to soft drinks(不含酒精的饮料) like Coca Cola. They say they feel stronger even after staying up late, as soon as they drink it. Many young people believe the Chinese traditional medicine can help make the Cola healthier. That's why more TCM soft drinks successfully make young people interested. 

However, can these TCM drinks really help you to stay healthy as we think? Can everyone drink them every day? That is still a question. Every medicine has its own side effect(副作用). Not everyone needs to take medicine. If necessary, take the doctor's advice instead of drinking without thinking twice.

Are you an "I" person or an "E" person? There is a personality test called MBTI. It is said that if people are "I", they are (很可能) not so outgoing, while "E" people may make friends, enjoy parties and (分享) their happiness and sadness with others more. Of course they can have things in (共有的；共同的). In fact, experts use the (信息) from the test results to help tell what you might be good at in your future job. But don't take it too seriously. Anyway, never let a test tell you who you are. Don't find the real you (直到) it's too late.

One very famous symbol in American culture is a cartoon. We all know and love the black mouse  two large round ears — Mickey Mouse. Over 90 years ago, he first (appear) in the cartoon Steamboat Willie. When this cartoon came out in New York on November 18, 1928, it was the (one) cartoon with sound and music. 

Some people might ask why this cartoon animal became so popular. One of the main (reason) is that Mickey was like an ordinary man, but he always tried to face any danger. In (he) early films, Mickey was unlucky and had many problems. , he was always ready to try his best. People went to the cinema to see  "little man" win. Most of them wanted to be like Mickey.

On November 18, 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character (have) a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Today's cartoons are usually not so simple  little Mickey Mouse, but everyone still knows and loves him. Who has a pair of ears (famous) than Mickey's?

Sunday, April 30^th

Today I started the science homework — to grow sunflowers in the garden. After buying some seeds(种子), I dug holes in the garden, put the seeds in and covered them with the soil(土壤). Finally, I watered the soil. I am so happy that I can't wait to see what will happen tomorrow.

Monday, May 8^th

I can't forget what I found today when I watered the soil. Two green leaves(叶) came out of the soil and looked little and lovely. I was so excited that I took a lot of photos.

Tuesday, May 16^th

Today I found some stems(茎) were nearly 5 cm high, and more leaves came out. They really look like plants now. The garden goes greener. Now the most relaxing thing for me is to stay in the garden, looking after those green friends.

Saturday, July 15^th

I saw the first flower today! It is yellow. How lovely it is! The others are growing taller and their buds(花蕾) are becoming bigger. I will have more sunflowers! 60 days is a long time but it is worth the wait and the work. I find that the growth of the sunflowers helps me grow up, too.
